Our Mission

A neighborhood coworking club

A respite from the isolation and distraction of work-from-home life, the Cottage on Turner is a community of coworkers building one another in virtue, honoring the dignity of work, and revealing the Way of Beauty through culturally enriching events.

History of 429 Turner Ave NW

​1928-mid 1980s: Alt Mortuary, offering the corporal works of mercy.

1995-2024: Steepleview Law Offices, offering restorative works of justice.

2025- The Cottage on Turner, offering an oasis of fraternity in the face of isolation.

About Us

Mallory Root

Mallory opened Roots Brew Shop in 2016. She's worked in museums, at summer camps, and ridden a 1970s Merida bicycle across the country. She likes painting, camping, and traveling. She likes people more than coffee.

Kate Avery

Kate has a professional background in sales & marketing and heads up operations and outreach for Harmel Academy. She's made documentary films, sold craft beer, and managed budgets and staff. She likes swimming in Lake Michigan, cooking, and drives a stick shift.

​

Kate and Mallory are spearheading this mission, but it takes a community to build, sustain, and remain. Join us!
